What is an ABF?

Community

The Adult Bible Fellowship groups are where Lakes Free Church fosters Biblical Community, through the study of God’s Word, fellowship, prayer, and acts of service, in medium-sized gatherings that meet during our Sunday morning worship services. They’re a place to connect with others, to experience belonging, and to develop meaningful relationships.

What happens at an ABF meeting?

Fellowship

An ABF cultivates a warm, friendly atmosphere to meet people and provides a setting for relationships, spiritual growth, and caregiving. There is coffee, and usually snacks too!

Teaching

All ABF Bible and topical studies are covered by a team of great teachers; a committed, caring ministry team made up of peers from within the ABF groups.

Prayer

ABFs provide time for corporate prayer in a smaller group, both for your needs and for the needs of others.

Why attend an ABF?

Size

Sunday Service in the sanctuary is an important part of Lakes Free Church, but the Bible calls us to more than just a large corporate worship service once a week.

Depth

Acts 2 describes The Fellowship of Believers; smaller groups which met in houses to study, worship, pray, and fellowship together. This is attributed to the deepening of faith and subsequent growth of the early church.

Support

The ABF setting provides an environment that is better suited to directly supporting, and being supported by, fellow believers at Lakes Free Church.

How do I get involved?

Just show up!

There are ABFs that meet during both Sunday services. Check out the schedule and find the group that fits you best. Some are focused on people of a certain age or stage of life, while others are intentionally intergenerational. You’re welcome to come and visit!

If you are not currently involved in an ABF and are interested in attending, please review the descriptions below to find out which group would be the right fit for you.
