CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me..." Matthew 19:14

WHAT TO EXPECT

Whether your kids have been involved for two years or two weeks, we are thrilled to have them be a part of this ministry!

Our children’s ministry vision is that every child has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

During our formal teaching opportunities we will teach the truth which is found in the person of Jesus Christ.  Our curriculum material is Scripture-based and teaches that Jesus is God, that He lived a perfect life, died to save us from our sins and rose again.  We want kids to celebrate their relationship with Jesus by worshiping Him in a variety of ways including music, the arts and giving.

When children leave our ministry, we envision a healthy disciple would:

  • Know and love God
  • Know how to apply God’s Word
  • Know how to share God’s love with  others
  • Seek God’s will in all that they do

FAMILY DEDICATION

Family Dedication is an exciting occasion when parents commit before God and our church to raising their child in the ways of God and in the knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ. To help you prepare for this significant event in your family’s life, Lakes Free Church offers a Family Dedication class for parents or guardians interested in pursuing dedication. We trust that this one-session class will be a great blessing to your family and a significant part of your dedication experience.

Expectations of Parents
To pursue Family dedication Lakes Free Church requires the following of parents.

1. Christian Parent(s)

We expect that either one or both parents (or guardians) of any family pursuing dedication are christian. Dedication is a commitment to God before the church body to raise and to parent your child in a way that is honoring to God. Therefore, our expectation is that at least one parent has made a personal commitment to Christ and trusted in His death and resurrection for salvation.

2. Regular Attenders

We expect that either one or both parents (or guardians) of any family pursuing dedication are regular attenders of our congregation. As dedication is a commitment to God to raise your child in a way honoring to God, we believe that regular participation in worship and the community life of the church are foundational to that commitment. Along with that, dedication is a community-oriented commitment, where the church body also commits to supporting your family. That can only happen if you’re regularly engaged in the corporate life of our church.

3. Agreement with Lakes Free Church's Beliefs and Vision

We expect that either one or both parents (or guardians) of any family pursuing dedication agrees with Lakes Free Church’s Beliefs and Vision. An important part of being involved in our community is embracing our beliefs about who God is and the values that He has called us to.

4. Modeling Christian Integrity and Commitment to Christ

We expect that either one or both parents (or guardians) of any family pursuing dedication are seeking to model Christian integrity and commitment to Christ. We believe that the grace that saves us is also the grace that transforms us to be more like Christ. Thus, we expect that one or both parents are striving toward a lifestyle of integrity and faithfulness to Christ: this would include a biblically faithful approach to sex and marriage.
